David Rawlins is recognised as an Historic Environment Service Provider by the IHBC.

Our aim and objective is to offer clients personal building and general practice surveying services to residential clients, to include specialist advice on Historic Buildings and their remedial repair; and ensuring the good health of such buildings by studying them in a holistic manner with the minimum of intervention to ensure the integrity of the building.

As a full member of the IHBC (Institute of Historic Building Conservation) and the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings, (SPAB), David Rawlins, Chartered Surveyor can offer a fast, professional service with expert local knowledge of the traditional building techniques used by our predecessors. In addition to Condition Surveys of period & other traditional buildings, we also offer single defect analysis, including damp surveys and other issues commonly found in traditional buildings, as well as the usual House Surveys and valuations of modern dwellings.

We also offer advice on the different methods of improving the insulation and energy efficiency of historic buildings & impact of Climate Change on old buildings, recognising the fact that such buildings retain significant embodied energy as part of their construction, and that the energy efficiency of a building can be significantly improved whilst keeping intervention to the structure to a minimum & without the loss of historic character.
